Tandem EAs are independent contractors. That’s a deliberate choice — it means we recruit from an open, competitive talent pool rather than a fixed internal roster. Every EA we place has real, demonstrable experience before they ever meet a client. We don’t hire on potential. We hire on proof. And regardless of contractor status, every EA has a Tandem team lead behind them — monitoring performance, providing ongoing training, and serving as your point of contact if anything needs addressing.

Our EAs are based in the Philippines (PHT, UTC+8) and work flexible hours designed to overlap with North American and European schedules. Your preferred working hours are discussed and confirmed during your first sync, before a match is made, so timezone compatibility is built into the match itself — not figured out after.

Your Tandem EA handles the day-to-day: transaction recording, reconciliation, invoicing, expense categorisation, and monthly P&L summaries. Your accountant handles tax, compliance, and year-end reporting. The two work in parallel — your EA can liaise directly with your accountant as needed, keeping your books clean and ready for whenever your accountant needs them.

Tandem runs on a month-to-month basis — there’s no fixed term or lock-in beyond the first month. If you need to cancel, we ask for 30 days’ written notice. That’s it.

Part-time is approximately 20 hours per week — roughly four hours per working day. Full-time is 40 hours per week. Your exact schedule and working hours are confirmed with your EA during the start call, so there’s no ambiguity about availability from day one.

More than most people expect. Tandem EAs cover both professional and personal tasks — calendar and inbox management, travel coordination, research, drafting, CRM admin, SOP creation, vendor coordination, and meeting prep on the professional side. On the personal side: appointments, home coordination, school research, gift sourcing, subscription management, and any recurring task that’s taking up headspace. If it’s on your plate and it doesn’t need to be, it’s fair game.

Once you confirm a match and payment is processed, your EA undergoes a final preparation session with your Tandem team lead — covering your tools, preferences, priorities, and working style. Your start call can be scheduled within 72 hours of payment confirmation. Most clients are delegating real tasks within their first day.

This is something to discuss with your team lead at the start of your engagement. Your EA’s availability norms, leave expectations, and backup arrangements are part of the onboarding conversation. Tandem team leads are across active engagements and will flag any coverage gaps proactively.
